European Parliament adopts the new legislation on internal market for goods.
The European Parliament has adopted a key legislative package on the internal market for goods. The new legislation covers a large portion of goods in more then 20 industrial sectors ranging from toys, machinery, and medical equipment to high speed trains.

The first regulation drafted by Alexander Stubb deals with the abuses of the principle of mutual recognition by Member States. The second regulation drafted by Andre Brie sets up for the first time a common EU accreditation system and standardises the rules by which accreditation is to be granted.

The third part of the package drafted by Christel Schaldemose lays down a clear legal framework for all future regulations on the internal market in goods. The decision also lays down rules on the CE marking on goods.
