The European Parliament and the European Council have taken the initiative to revise the European Directive on the Safety of Toys adopted in 1988.
The Toys Directive was one of the first directives applying the New Approach method leaving the choice between an independent certification of the product or a manufacturer declaration that the product complies with all EU rules. The Belgium Christian Democrat MEP Mrs Marianne Thyssen has been appointed as the rapporteur and CEOC International has contacted and informed Mrs Thyssen about its opinion concerning this directive.
